The Old Cathedral of Lleida, a singular element of the urban landscape of Western Catalonia's capital city, stands out prominently from its perch atop a hill that bears its name. The cloister is situated, due to limited space on the hill, directly in front of the Romanesque façade of the church, making the Apostles' Gate the primary entrance to the cathedral. The Apostles' Gate gets its name from the images of the 12 apostles that adorned the gate, which have unfortunately been greatly fragmented over time despite being preserved. Constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries, several of the era's most renowned master craftsmen and sculptors contributed to its creation: Jaume Cascalls, Guillem de Solivella, or Jordi Safont, among others.
