A gateway of the Montemor-o-Novo Castle Tower, with an associated legend that gives it its name, dating back to the mid-12th century during King D. Sancho I's reign. It protects the Má Hora Portal, also known as the Sun or St. James Portal. Restoration work was carried out on the portal's structures and the adjacent wall and tower in 2001.
