The Porsche Cayenne, designated as Type 9PA and 955, is a mid-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle produced by German manufacturer Porsche since 2002. North American sales started in 2003, making it the first V8-engined car built by Porsche since 1995 when the Porsche 928 ceased production. It is also the first off-road variant sports car from Porsche since their Super and Junior tractors in the 1950s, as well as the company's first four-door vehicle. Since 2008, all engines have incorporated direct injection technology.
