I designed spacers for my Pioneer speakers in the 944 since the windows kept hitting them. The gap between the speaker bracket and door metal is 0.225", while the width of the mount between the door and grill is 0.510". Included is a SLDPRT file if you want to modify it to fit your individual speakers. These spacers haven't been tested yet, but they should work. I'm not completely sure about their effectiveness.
