Porsche 911 sports cars bearing the internal designation 997 were produced and sold by German manufacturer Porsche from 2004 (marketed as model year 2005) through 2012. The first Carrera and Carrera S coupes rolled off production lines in early 2004, followed closely by deliveries of all-wheel drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S models starting in November 2005. Meanwhile, the Turbo and GT3 derivatives entered the market in late 2006, with the GT2 arriving a year later in 2007. In addition to coupes and cabriolets, Targa versions of the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S were also made available, featuring the glass canopy roof design that had been employed since its introduction on the 993 model up until the 991, before reverting back to a classic targa top layout reminiscent of early 911 Targas. The 997 boasted an exquisite design, echoing the classic lines and shapes synonymous with the Porsche 911 brand.
