This bracket presses firmly into the locked storage container, transforming it into a double cup holder. In my situation, I'm using this to replace the malfunctioning in-dash cup holders so I can utilize that space for a double-din stereo upgrade. The lid still closes and locks securely with the cup holder installed. With the Boxster, the lid opens all the way clear of the cup. However, I suspect with the 911/996 model, the door might slightly obstruct the cup due to its design.
