The Porsche Cayman GTS is propelled by a supercharged four-cylinder boxer engine generating an impressive 365 CV, while the standard S variant puts out 350 hp. Boosting power to this extent comes from enhanced collectors in the intake system and adjusted turbo specifications. As a result, torque climbs from 420 Nm to 430 Nm. Standout features common on GTS models but available as extras for the S include the Sport Chrono package, PTV limited-slip mechanical differential, adaptable suspension called PASM within the Porsche family, stylish 20-inch wheels and distinctive black accents such as a sports exhaust. Other upgrades visible on the GTS comprise black finishes on bumpers and certain door trim elements plus sport tires. A more potent engine - thanks to its extra 15 HP - helps push Cayman GTS from rest to 100 km/h in merely 4.1 seconds using PDK transmission, cutting 0.3 seconds off of S times in a real-world setting we witnessed firsthand. Thrust proves powerful at the bottom of its rpm range, specifically around 2,000-7,000 rpms when driving it's nearly fully-powered. Nonetheless there is a catch like many of their brethren this version lacks that signature growl heard on predecessor models which possessed a naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine. The song these cars make, albeit charming, does not have the personality those earlier units once had but hopefully this won't be a topic worth mentioning after some time. At present though models such as this 981 series come surprisingly close to being perfect for nostalgic types - or even more enthusiastic sports car owners eager to push things a bit harder each and every lap you decide on giving their Porsche life.
