Porcelain Bowl #5

While Dr Iskandar's bowls pay homage to the master of porcelain, the late David Leach, they assert their own eccentric identity that diverges significantly from Leach's restrained style. \nDr Iskandar's bowls are uniquely individualistic and refuse to conform. They feature irregular rims, perforated holes, small body protrusions, and even one that refuses to stand upright - instead toppling lopsidedly onto its side. \nDr Iskandar's writings on porcelain offer valuable insights. He extols the virtues of porcelain as producing bowls "so slender they are infused with light" and which "resonate" as if they were crafted for some sacred purpose. He adds lyrically that porcelain's transience seemed "almost like shards of my recollections". \nStill, he confesses it was "a kind of anguish" to work with porcelain due to its low malleability and exacting nature and most of all because it was "not me" .
