Porcelain Bowl #3
sketchfab
Dr Iskandar's collection of bowls is a tribute to David Leach, the master of porcelain, yet it asserts its own unique identity that diverges significantly from Leach's measured style. Dr Iskandar's bowls are unlike any others, showcasing irregular rims, punctured holes, small body nubs, and even one that refuses to stand upright, instead returning to rest with a lopsided stance. Dr Iskandar's writings on porcelain offer valuable insights into its characteristics. He praises porcelain for producing bowls "so thin they are filled with light" and which "vibrate" as if they were "made for some sacred purpose." He adds poetically that porcelain's fleeting nature seemed "almost like fragments of my memories." However, Dr Iskandar also reveals the difficulties he faced working with porcelain due to its low plasticity and demanding nature.
