A lighter, smaller version of the Square Tubing Quadcopter utilizes affordable 5/8 in. Poplar Squares from home improvement stores. It now features a stronger motor mount option using 6 zip ties instead of 2 (4 for bracket-motor and 2 for bracket-boom). The center has been thinned to save weight, while the Poplar Squares measure 5/8 x 5/8 x 36 in. All pieces are joined together with #4 bolts, nuts, and washers, and trimmed arms can be adjusted to desired length. This version weighs 1516 grams including gear and battery, a reduction from the original Square Tubing Quadcopter's 1918 grams. Use stainless steel bolts for housing and standoffs to avoid magnetic compass interference on flight boards. Instructions and an xcopterCalc sheet are available online.
