This cast is a replica of a more extensive papal bust attributed to the skilled sculptor Domenico Guidi. Three additional versions of this portrait are fully preserved and can be discovered at The Victoria and Albert Museum in London, as well as in terracotta at the Los Angeles County Museum. Domenico Guidi was a student of Alessandro Algardi (1595-1654), one of Rome's top Baroque sculptors.
