If you're like me you may have noticed that the classic Tomy 'Pop-up Pirate' game is not as random as they like to make out. In fact, after noticing how it works, it's very, very NOT random and, being as competitive as I am, this then takes all enjoyment out of palying with it with the kids (even if they are not aware themselves). Due to the way it's made, with there only being 2 slots under the pirate's body, it only has 2 options of where the correct barrel hole will be in relation to the pirate's body. The pirate will only pop up when you put the sword in below either the left or right ear (see the first half of the video). It literally can't pop up anywhere else. For this reason I thought I'd design the randomiser ring which, instead of it having two possible locations for the pirate to pop-up, it has 10! There are two parts to the file: 1: The outer randomiser ring that gives you the extra position options 2: The central pin extender which simply extends the existing pin under the pirate so the sprung plunger in the barrell manages to get pressed all the way down after adding height to the outer ring. I lightly sanded the bottom of the pirate to flatten the base better for glueing and I just used super glue (CA glue) to attached both parts. The other fact is, 9/10 times it only pops up when the sword is inserted on the top row of holes rather than the bottom row as the pressure pad behind the holes doesn't really go low enough to adequately reach the lower holes, but this can't be changed without breaking the glued-together barrel open and exntending the pressure pad down, but I won't be doing that. https://youtu.be/mzUVHrg4i88
