Pop Socket Cap Collection
thingiverse
These four designs aim to replace the cap of a pop socket with fresh new ideas. Inspired by an apollonian gasket, a critical hit on a d20, the smash bros logo, and the colorado flag, they are designed to be printed face down without support material. The tabs are supported by bridges from within the model itself. I use 100% infill, but it shouldn't matter much with such small bodies anyway. A smaller layer height will give finer detail, but it should print alright at anything below 0.3 mm due to bridging. I used 0.06 and it looks great. Your print will probably look even better because I used what would be considered a low-end printer and the levelness of the bed could have been improved. I also think it would look better if the rest of the pop-socket was black so the holes in the model are more consistently dark. I haven't tested all of the designs yet for durability, so they might fail after repeated use. In fact, I've only tested the d20 design in its current version and it hasn't broken yet. I used to have a more liberal version of the gasket design as the cap on my personal phone and it lasted several months but eventually started to break from bending inwards when the pop-socket is collapsed. I have gone back and reinforced this design to some degree, so I expect this problem to be mitigated in the present version. Please let me know what your results are. I've also included solidworks files for you to take and create your own design with.
