Summary These flat prints transform into a basket shape as soon as they're removed from the build plate. Multiple customization options are available through the customizer tool. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: Not Required Supports: None Needed Resolution: Less Critical, Thick Layers Are Acceptable Infill: 20-40% Notes: Some trial and error may be necessary to find the optimal print settings for your specific printer. I've included detailed documentation in the file to help get you started. Feel free to ask questions in the comments if needed. Post-Printing After printing is complete, inspect the bottom of the basket to ensure no layers have merged together. If any do, gently push them apart to separate them. If they're too merged, adjust the customizer settings and try again. Start by pushing down on the floor until it's mostly freed, then work your way up each layer until the entire basket is removed. Design Inspiration This design was inspired by scroll saw patterns that create similar baskets. On a scroll saw, you make a spiral cut with the blade at an angle, typically around 4 degrees. I used OpenSCAD to simulate this process and create the same effect in digital form.
