We're organizing an FPV drone racing club with some local women and we've finally found a low-cost solution for micro-drones using the above VTX mount. However, we still needed displays to move forward. Goggles are ideal but we encountered a problem - they were too expensive and we didn't want anyone to be blindfolded in public. I think there might be goggles with cameras that can help, but they're way out of our budget. We decided to explore other options because being blindfolded at an event would make it difficult for us to focus on racing. I'm committed to using drone racing as a gateway to Maker culture for local women and we need to keep costs low, so all the solutions we're considering are in the $50USD range. So far, mounting 5-inch displays on tripods or remote controls hasn't worked out well. I came up with this solution and it works for me, but no one else has tested it yet.
