Detailed build and use photos can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/SPqIG. Recently, I mentioned that a few local ladies and I have been trying to get together an FPV drone racing club. We've made some progress with micro-drones using the low cost VTX mount mentioned earlier, but we still needed displays. Goggles are ideal, but when we tried out a cheap pair, we encountered a problem - you can't see anything with them on, and none of the girls wanted to be blindfolded in public. I think there are goggles with cameras available, but they're way out of our budget. Being blindfolded at an event surrounded by guys would make focusing on racing difficult, even if everyone was well-behaved. We need to keep costs low because I want to use drone racing as a gateway to Maker culture for local girls, so all the solutions we're looking at are in the $50USD range. So far, 5-inch displays mounted on tripods or remote controls haven't worked out. That's why I came up with this solution. I can use it effectively, but no one else has tested it yet.
