Pool Skimmer Basket
thingiverse
This is a replacement for the skimmer basket for home pools. It is designed in 3 main parts with a series of pins to hold the final assembly together. It does not require supports or rafts. I've been using this in my pool all summer and have had no issues either with breakage or filtration. I think that these are fairly standard and that this will fit most pools but the OD of the rim is 160mm and the OD at the bottom of the main body is 98.6mm and it is 75mm high. There is no need for a handle as there is extra material on the inner rim for you to get your fingers into. The support is 27mm high and has an OD at the bottom of 118mm. Print the main body and the support upside down and the rest should be fine as they are. You will need to print 8 pins to hold the bottom and main body together. The sides of the bottom piece are shaped at the same angle as the main body so will only fit the right way up. I printed the parts with shells set to 100 effectively making the skimmer solid. I found it necessary to design a support as last year the main body of the basket was starting to crack around the rim (my pool is overlooked by a large maple which drops 100s of leaves in autumn and the basket can fill in a couple of hours). Since printing the piece in the photograph I have slightly redesigned the rim for a cleaner print. If your current basket is not yet broken it is possible to just print the support and I would expect that you would no longer need the rest as your basket is unlikely to break.
