Pool Overfill Protection Device: A Solution for Efficient Water Collection Frustrated with losing rainwater to the drain only to have to refill my pool two or three days later, I designed this device to optimize water collection. This innovative concept allows the pool to fill slightly higher than standard overfills, reducing waste and saving time. To seal the device, a 1/8" (0.125") rubber gasket is required. After searching online, I found a pack of two 6"x6" gaskets at Home Depot for under $6, which I then cut to fit the sides and bottom of the lower component. The top section is optional but designed to minimize water flow through the overfill due to splashing. Although not fully tested yet, my goal is for it to float when the water rises during rain while remaining heavy enough to withstand splashes. Both components were printed in PETG, with the lower part featuring 1.6mm wall thickness and top and bottom thickness to ensure maximum strength. The upper component was printed at 0.8mm wall, top, and bottom thickness for optimal floatability. I welcome feedback on this design, which marks my eighth creation.
