Pool Eyeball (Nozzle) Removal Tool
thingiverse
This tool fits perfectly into a 1-1/2" MIP thread pool "eyeball" (also known as a nozzle) allowing you to easily unscrew or screw it in. Yes, it is designed specifically for Hayward SP1419D! **Important:** When printing this tool, make sure to use a filament that is reasonably strong and rigid. Old eyeballs can become calcified and extremely difficult to remove! The example printed with AmazonBasics Premium black PLA seemed sturdy enough. **Tip:** If the old eyeball resists unscrewing with this tool and starts to bend, you'll need to break out some self-adjusting pliers (e.g. Robo Grip or similar) and apply a lot of force to the center part of the old eyeball. I had to remove a bit (notch) of threads on mine and then use scrap wood and a hammer to free it from its calcium prison. Thankfully, I used my tool to screw in the new one. Don't over-tighten the new eyeball! It's also essential to apply some PTFE (Teflon) tape on the threads for easier unscrewing in the future. **Note:** For commercial use, please ask permission so I can track where it's being used.
