The Nymans Estate sprawls south-east of Handcross, West Sussex, encompassing gardens, parkland, ancient woodland, and farmland. The garden boasts national significance, proudly listed as Grade II*. You can learn more about the estate at https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nymans. Within the wider Nymans, the sandstone cliffs have been a canvas for graffiti for over 300 years, providing an exceptional historical record of those who lived, worked, and played in the area. One notable rock face, accessible only by a narrow walkway, bears hundreds of carvings across several square meters. Difficult to capture as a whole, this model showcases the range of marks left by previous visitors. You can experience the rock graffiti setting firsthand in this video: https://vimeo.com/363284278. Can you help us decipher the graffiti and reveal the story of who these people were and how they fit into Nymans' narrative? Join the effort at https://tinyurl.com/vwk32sq.
