Pooh - Sun Catcher
thingiverse
I wanted to explore whether printing a sun catcher without intricate mechanisms was feasible. So here is one of my experiments. This time, it's Pooh himself from Winnie the Pooh fame. The frame operates like the leading in a stained glass window. It needs to be printed with transparent filament and a switch to black at the layer where lead lines would be present. Once finished, colored pieces are then attached into corresponding gaps in the frame using PVA glue. I allowed it to set over several days. I used PLA for the filament, but sometimes I had to use PET as I couldn't find translucent/transparent PLA of the right color. This worked mostly well, but occasionally I had to sand down PET pieces slightly to make them fit properly.
