PONYO SUN CATCHER
thingiverse
My daughter is absolutely obsessed with Anime right now, and I've been spending my free time creating sun catchers, so here's Ponyo. This simple sun catcher is designed without any complex multi-material mechanisms, making it perfect for those who want a hassle-free printing experience. The frame of the sun catcher mimics the look of traditional stained glass windows, with a key feature being that it needs to be printed in transparent filament. To give it a realistic look, I changed the filament to black at the layer where the lead lines would be, creating an authentic stained glass effect. Once the printing process is complete, the colored pieces are carefully glued into their designated "gaps" within the frame. I used PVA glue for this purpose and allowed it to set over several days to ensure a strong bond. Keep in mind that the tolerances of 3D printed parts can be quite tight, so you may need to sand them down slightly to make sure they fit perfectly together, depending on your printer's specific tolerances.
