The Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) makes its home in the wild of Borneo. This species was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1760 as Pongo pygmaeus. The scientific name is also used to refer to the orangutan de Borneo, the orangután de Borneo and the Bornean orangutan. The zoo animal number for this individual is MZB 2001-0286. It has a right hand carpal bone fracture that healed on the right side, which is known as carp mà dreta. This injury occurred before it was captured by humans in Spain. The specimen was an adult male, which was collected from the Barcelona Zoo (Spain) on November 6, 2001.
