The orangutan known as Pongo pygmaeus was first described by Carolus Linnaeus in the year 1760. It is commonly referred to as the Bornean orangutan or the orangután de Borneo. The specimen in question, MZB 2001-0286, features a left rib number six and is listed as male and fully grown. This individual was observed at the Barcelona Zoo in Spain on November 6th of the year 2001.
