The Orangutan Species Pongo pygmaeus was named by Linnaeus in the year 1760. The Bornean orangutan is also known as orangutan de Borneo and orangután de Borneo. A specimen numbered MZB 2001-0286 belongs to this species. It has a carp mà esquerra, or left hand carpal bone, on the left side of its hand. This animal is male and adult in age. The zoo where it resides is located in Barcelona, Spain, and was seen on November 6th, 2001.
