Pongo pygmaeus (Linnaeus, 1760) is known as the Bornean orangutan. This species was first described by Swedish botanist and zoologist Carolus Linnaeus in his book "Systema Naturae" in 1760. The name Pongo pygmaeus comes from the Greek word for pigmy and the Latin word for dwarf, which is a reference to the fact that this orangutan is smaller than other members of its species. The Bornean orangutan is found only on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It inhabits the dense forests of central and western Borneo, and is also known as the orangutan de Borneo or orangután de Borneo. The term "orangutan" comes from the Malay words for man of the forest. The vertebra C7, also known as the cervical vertebra 7, is a critical part of the spine that connects the head to the body. In humans and other animals, it plays a crucial role in supporting the weight of the head and facilitating movement. The male Bornean orangutan is an adult who was born on November 6, 2001. He resides at the Barcelona Zoo in Spain, where he has been living since his birth.
