Pomona at the Louvre, Paris, France
myminifactory
This piece was created by François Barois, a French sculptor who lived his entire life in Paris. While living at the French Academy in Rome, he crafted a copy of the Kallipygian Venus for King Louis XIV of France from 1683 to 1686. His Cleopatra Dying served as his introduction to the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture in 1700; it is now on display at the Musée du Louvre. In addition, three other works by Barois are also housed at the Louvre: Spring and Autumn, as well as Pomona. As a member of a large team of sculptors, Barois was responsible for delivering decorative vases and sculptural elements for the gardens of Versailles. This object is part of "Scan The World".
