The brain is supplied with blood through two systems: the vertebral-basilar system (vertebral arteries) and the carotid system (internal carotid arteries). These are specialized arteries designed specifically to irrigate the brain. At the base of the skull, these arteries form a complex network known as the Polígono de Willis, from which the main arteries branch off to supply blood to the cerebral tissues.
