Polyhymnia, Monte Calvo, 2nd century A.D., Marble, Nye Carlsberg Glyptotek (Copenhagen, Denmark). Made with Memento Beta. The rotating movement highlighted by the right hand holding her cloak clearly indicates that the woman is dancing. She is Polyhymnia, the Muse of Dance and sacred poetry, dance, eloquence, agriculture, pantomime, geometry and meditation. Polyhymnia ("the one of many hymns"), also spelled Polymnia was a Greek mythological figure who personified sacred poetry, hymn, dance, eloquence, agriculture, pantomime, geometry and meditation. She is often depicted as serious, pensive and meditative, holding a finger to her mouth, dressed in a long cloak and veil, resting her elbow on a pillar. This object is part of "Scan The World".
