Polyhymnia
thingiverse
Polyhymnia, Monte Calvo, 2nd century A.D., Marble, Nye Carlsberg Glyptotek (Copenhagen, Denmark), masterfully crafted with Memento Beta precision. The dynamic movement conveyed by her right hand grasping the hem of her cloak accentuates that the woman is indeed dancing. As Polyhymnia, she embodies the Muse of Dance. Polyhymnia ("one of many hymns"), also spelled Polymnia in Greek mythology, was revered as the patron deity of sacred poetry, hallowed hymn, dance, and eloquence, as well as agriculture and pantomime. Depicted as a paragon of seriousness, contemplation, and introspection, she often stands with her finger pressed to her lips, draped in a long cloak and veil, while resting her elbow on a pillar. Polyhymnia is also occasionally hailed as the Muse of geometry and meditation.
