Polygroup Summer Escape Pool Vacuum Hose Adapter
thingiverse
My brother surprised me with a Summer Escape 15ft inflatable ring pool, and I quickly identified three major issues: 1) The built-in filter is woefully inadequate, forcing me to run it non-stop to keep the water clean. 2) Unfortunately, there's no way to vacuum the pool floor without some serious tinkering. 3) Furthermore, skimming water from the top of the pool is virtually impossible. Luckily, I was able to overcome these problems with a combination of 3D printing and a new pump. The vacuum adapter has been designed to make quick work of this issue. The bulkhead fitting features a built-in strainer, as well as threads for a cap that acts as a cut-off valve. Although the threads are non-standard, measuring in at M93x3, I was able to create a compatible adapter using M95x3 and manipulating the tread faces in Fusion 360 to make them slightly smaller. Simply screw the adapter onto the wall fitting, then slide a standard 1.5" vacuum hose into place. The adapter works beautifully with fine debris, but may require manual intervention when dealing with larger items like leaves or sticks. If you plan on removing the fitting frequently, be sure to have a manual skimmer handy to catch any stray debris. Alternatively, I'm currently working on designing a pre-strainer that will make quick work of this task.
