Poly Lotus Novatrope
thingiverse
A 3D Zoetrope crafted using the Fibonacci sequence and Golden Spiral. The mounting point accommodates a standard snap-locking DVD motor perfectly. Designed with bottom slots, it allows light to enter the chamber, a feature also found in our Hex Strobe Docks and Wooden Strobe Docks. It was then printed in Natural clear PLA, allowing light to diffuse through the plastic from within. If designing a motorized strobe dock yourself, you can print it in colored plastic and bathe it under white or colored strobe lights from above. You can also purchase Strobe Docks on our website at https://www.novatropes.com. The sculpture should rotate at approximately 900 RPM, with a strobe frequency of around 40 Hz and a duty cycle between 0.5% and 2%. Lower is generally better, but it will decrease brightness. Brightness can be increased by over-volting your LEDs, which is only safe at very low duty cycles (over-volting will burn out LEDs if left on for more than a second, so handle with care). Note: Mounting snap-hole dimensions are very precise. Print with a 0.4mm nozzle (only PLA has been tested, but other plastics may be possible). Printing with a raft is also essential, as even slight bed leveling imperfections will cause the statue to "wobble" during operation and create unpleasant visual noise.
