Poly Lotus Novatrope

myminifactory

A 3D Zoetrope crafted using the Fibonacci sequence and golden spiral design principles. The mounting point accommodates a standard snap-locking DVD motor perfectly, featuring bottom slots that allow light to enter the chamber - a feature also present in our Hex Strobe Docks and Wooden Strobe Docks. This unique design element enables the creation of mesmerizing visual effects when combined with strobe lights. To replicate this innovative design, you can print it in Natural clear PLA or any other colored plastic material. When printed in colored plastic, bathing it under white or colored strobe lights from above will enhance its visual appeal. You can also purchase Strobe Docks and additional Novatropes on our website at Novatropes.com. The ideal rotation speed for the sculpture is approximately 900 RPM, with a strobe frequency of around 40 Hz and a duty cycle between 0.5% to 2%. Lower duty cycles produce better results, but may decrease brightness. To increase brightness safely, you can over-volt your LEDs, but be cautious not to burn them out by keeping the duty cycle low. Note: The mounting snap-hole dimensions are extremely precise, so it's essential to print with a .4mm nozzle (PLA is the only material tested so far, but other plastics may work). Printing with a raft is also crucial to prevent slight bed leveling imperfections from causing the Novatrope to wobble during operation and create unpleasant visual noise.
