Poll Skimmer Basket (customisable)
thingiverse
This is a highly customizable pool skimmer basket that I designed using OpenSCAD, as I was unable to find a suitable replacement for my 20-year-old pool. Even if spare baskets are available, they're often overpriced, with a cost of around $3 for 100g of PET filament, which is what I used to make this design. You can adjust various parameters, such as the top and bottom radii, hole size, thinnest part, and overlap of the top section, to create a basket that fits your needs. Simply measure your existing basket or holes and set the corresponding values. To facilitate easier printing, the design consists of two parts: one for the majority of the basket and another for the top overlapping section. You can generate either part using `bottom_part=1` or `top_part=1`, respectively. For most slicers, it's more convenient to create STL files separately by setting `bottom_part=1` and `top_part=0` and vice versa. I've tested both ABS and PET materials, but PET seems to be the better choice. I printed the basket with a 0.25 mm layer size and 30% infill. You can use Thingverse's customizer to prepare STL files or open OpenSCAD to create your own customized basket. I'm planning to make some adjustments and potentially add a handle to the design in the future.
