Political Buttons
thingiverse
This text describes various political button-making experiments. The buttons feature a 2mm thick circular plate with rounded edges, hiding a safety pin. A number 2 safety pin is held in place by short filament pieces. A 1mm deep message is inscribed on the surface, which can be left unfilled or colored differently using a two-color printer. Alternatively, air-drying clay can fill the recesses for enhanced legibility. The image shows buttons filled with ABS (red characters), clay (blue characters), or left unfilled. Stl files and open SCAD programs are provided for 2-color printing, along with instructions to print directly on the build platform for a shiny finish. Excess clay removal is facilitated by the surface's shine, while Crayola blue clay or other air-drying clays can be used for filling recesses. Included in Buttons.zip are all necessary files, including fonts from Polymaker.
