Polished Slate Knife, XCB-001-1476 XCB-001 or IZM-001 is one of three sites tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971 and has become the type-site for the Cape Glazenap Phase. A massive village of nucleus-satellite corporate households dated approximately 1000-1200 CE makes XCB-001 a significant discovery. Research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411 led to the presentation of Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, spearheaded this research effort. Artifacts were scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processed in Geomagic or Polyworks, 2-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication took place at Global Digital Heritage. A.P. McCartney's groundbreaking research is highlighted in "Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula," published in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974. H. Maschner's work, "Arctic Anthro. January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2 98-111," sheds new light on this significant topic.
