Darek Mazur is a Polish hussar knight brought to life in 3D Max 2017 using V-Ray 3.6. Modelled with quads, Darek's character has been subdivided using the Turbosmooth modifier for added detail. A range of texturing and shading techniques were employed, including UV-unwrapping for select objects and the use of tileable maps in conjunction with Vray Curvature Map for masking on metal parts like armor and leather straps. A sculpted displacement map and painted texture were applied to his face and clothing, which have been properly UV-unwrapped. Texture resolutions range from 2048x2048 for smaller components to 4096x4096 for larger geometry. Included is a basic posing rig and simple face rig with morph targets for eye blink animation. While suitable for animation, Darek's complex armor requires manual animation and cloth intersection handling. Skinning has been kept basic to accommodate rendered poses. Darek's fur coat was created using V-RayFur, while facial hair was modelled with the 3d Max Hair and Fur modifier. His beard can be toggled on or off in renderings. The provided .zip file contains a 3D Max 2017 scene with posed character, cameras, and lighting setup visible in previews. A separate texture folder includes all textures used, along with VRay HDRI light, key light, and rim light settings for accurate rendering in V-Ray 3.6.
