Pole Plug Helper
thingiverse
I generally prefer to produce prints that are used repeatedly, but this handy solution made an exception worth considering. My garage door opener plug gets its power from a socket high up in my garage ceiling, and at first, accessing it wasn't feasible without a long ladder. To resolve this issue for a short-term maintenance task, I decided to use an extension cord that had already been connected. After some time, there was nothing really wrong with the set-up, but the desire grew stronger to get back to the regular arrangement where the plug fits snugly into its designated socket! The prospect of being able to create something using my 3D printer sparked an idea to utilize a metal broom handle as a makeshift rod to guide the print and get it connected securely. In less than 1 hour, the first attempt was already in progress; within about 60 seconds, I had my DIY extension. It may seem slightly unrefined at first glance, but getting the power connection restored worked without any issues from the start. Although a single-use project up to this point, some refinements might come into play in the future. Still, being prepared is never bad, so the small print stays in place just in case future requirements emerge!
