Pole Clamp

Pole Clamp

I spent a dark Friday night attempting to read a book with a flashlight due to a power outage, and this is not my first time experiencing such an inconvenience. I made up my mind to design something that would hold the flashlight for me. I created a video documenting the process of designing the clamp portion: https://youtu.be/ZlloF07-5o8 The spacer was added because the clamp got twisted when tightened, and it's possible that I could have altered the clamp to have an angled bottom instead. However, I had already printed it. I had to print the knob twice because I discovered a discrepancy between the M8 bolt head size (13mm) and the M8 nut size (14mm). The spacer needed support due to its placement on the bed, which was set for a 60 degree limit. In contrast, the ears required no additional support. To create the spiral pattern on the knob, I used the spiral_extrude library: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1958354 and the extrude_spiral() function for the knurling. It's essential to edit the 'use' line in OpenSCAD to direct it to the correct location where you installed the library.
