Polarized Parametric Battery Holder
thingiverse
A versatile battery holder engineered for seamless integration with the Keystone 1107-1 clip, designed to work effectively with AA and lithium batteries like the 18650 and 16340, while easily adaptable for other batteries with a diameter of AA or larger. Features of this innovative battery box: • Effectively prevents the negative side of the battery from making contact with the positive terminal • Configures positive and negative terminals to optimize connections • Clearly indicates battery direction at the bottom of each battery slot using positive and negative symbols • Utilizes a budget-friendly clip (the 1107-1 costs under $0.15 per unit in reasonable quantities) Customization is possible by altering the values marked at the beginning of the openSCAD file, which enables the number and size of batteries in the holder to be adjusted according to preference. Sample configurations for AA and multiple sizes of lithium batteries can be found within the comments section of this file. For successful implementation: Insert the Keystone 1107-1 clips into the slots located at both ends of each battery compartment (2 per battery required). You may need to delicately clean up the top end of the slots using a hobby or x-acto knife if there's an initial tight fit. Once inserted, these clips can no longer be removed but can be soldered in place. Applying a light layer of flux from a flux pen is helpful when creating the joint. For easy access to electrical connections, use 22-gauge wire which neatly fits through holes in the ends of the solder tab; you can also use 18-gauge wire with a bit more effort. I sourced my Keystone 1107-1 clips from Digi-Key.
