Polaris BJD Mermaid

A remix of the upper parts of Polaris doll with the tail parts of another smaller mermaid doll to produced the mermaid doll I promised my daughter. //------------------ Printing and assembly notes Use Polaris or compatiable chest, arms and head, print the tail parts at 300%. Print one each of the pins, centre them in the knee and ankle joints and use a 3D pen to permanatly place an infilled cap, sand smooth. Rotate the stringed together head to tail_part1 (there is a bar for a hook) sideways to slot it into the rest of tail, realise there is no captive joint and ask yourself why you didn't check how it went together before printing it out. //------------------ Design notes I had to learn Meshmixer for this and I thinks it's an ok first attempt. I used meshmixer to cut the top from lowerBody_Thin.stl from Polaris and the the bottom of stomac.stl from the mermaid. I then merged them into one. I'll admit I just selected triangles around the join, deleted them and used smooth infill from the mesh fixing option to get a decent looking smooth join. I think the torso is angled back too much so she doesn't really pose when strung up, but now I've had a go at least I ask someone else if they can do a better mermaid! The mermaid doll has since been removed from thingiverse. They are 6mm (at 300%) so I designed in OpenScad some pins for them that are slighty narrower than the holes and capped them in with the 3D printing pen. This will be permanant.
