Polaris Backup Valve Collar

Polaris Backup Valve Collar

I recommend a dual collar for two reasons: it's stronger and less likely to freeze onto the valve. The normal collar tends to stick, causing problems. I've found that assembling the dual collar takes a bit longer, but it's easier to remove when you need to. Over 25 years of running my Polaris 180, I've had to cut off a few collars. This dual collar is printed solid and held together with five 30mm long bolts and nuts. I've also had issues with the after-97 backup valves cracking near the output nozzle. In those cases, I've had to take them apart, fill in the cracks with epoxy, and put everything back together. The gear train seems reliable so far, but these valves are a different story.
