The skull and cervical vertebrae of this polar bear derive from a 26-year-old captive female who died of natural causes at Toledo Zoo, her remains donated to Ohio University in the late 1980s for skeletonization. She underwent CT scanning at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital in February 2013. The original CT scan data is freely downloadable on MorphoSource: http://bit.ly/2RlykG8. This research receives support from grants provided by the National Science Foundation.
