The massive male is known to dominate the den, where cubs have been spotted taking a turn nursing and then being swapped by both parents, which often results in each child bonding equally with their two guardians, making it easier for the offspring when the big male gets away for a hunting session. When out on their own hunting, adult bears usually cover 8-9 miles per hour using just a few hours every day, returning to take care of the kids or other necessities. During those periods the smaller animals which normally are its natural prey will be very confident knowing there is a grown bear and possibly another large companion close by so no hunting activity happens.
