May/Aura spent her early years growing up in Ciudad Petalburgo/Petalia, where she developed a deep connection to the city's vibrant culture. However, one fateful day when she was just 2 years old, May/Aura's life took an unexpected turn after encountering a menacing Tentacool. She had been playing quietly by the water when suddenly a massive school of Tentacool appeared out of nowhere, encircling her in a chilling spectacle. Her mother quickly sprang into action, rushing to her side and mistaking her for one of the Tentacool Pokémon in the chaos. This harrowing experience left May/Aura with an enduring distrust of all Pokémon.
