I'm sharing another uniquely specific idea here, primarily to inspire others and spark creativity rather than expecting anyone to replicate this exact concept. Like many Americans, my son is absolutely enthralled by Pokémon GO. For his 10th birthday, I thought it would be an incredibly fun twist if instead of getting a year older, he leveled up like in the game. To make this idea a reality, I adapted the "level up" design from Pokémon GO to fit the celebration of my son Brian turning 10. It would be fantastic if another person with a son named Brian, who is also turning 10, could benefit from this concept, but as I mentioned, my primary goal is to provide inspiration rather than expecting a direct adoption. I designed this idea using 123D Design and am more than happy to share the file upon request. Unfortunately, Thingiverse does not accept 123D files for upload. Here's how I brought this unique design to life: First, I created an image using Photoshop (you can view the result below). Next, I converted that image into an SVG format. With the SVG open in 123D Design as an image, I then proceeded to convert it into a 3D model. To create the legs for stability, I used basic cylinders and positioned them carefully so they touched the print bed instead of using supports. For safety reasons, I opted for PLA over ABS for printing. Here are my specific print settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 20% Notes: To avoid using supports altogether, I designed the legs to touch the bed of the printer during the printing process.
