Pokemon Chess Set

Pokemon Chess Set

thingiverse

I created a Pokémon-themed chess set for my friend's birthday. The pieces were printed in light Woodfill PLA, then sanded to smooth out any rough edges. A clear coat was applied to seal everything in place. Each piece is designed to be split into two parts: a Pokeball base and the actual Pokémon figure. To add some extra weight to the bases, I included nuts (M8 at 100% size, M6 at 75%) that can be filled inside. To make it easier to tell the pieces apart, each one has a unique base shape: * Pawns are round * Kings and Queens have a pentagon-shaped base * Bishops have a hexagon-shaped base * Knights have a heptagon-shaped base * Rooks have an octagon-shaped base When we tested it out, we found that it's only slightly more challenging to tell the pieces apart than with a regular chess set.
