PokeBall Doorbell Cover
thingiverse
The worn-out doorbell button on my front door was in dire need of an upgrade. My wife, never one to mince words, asked me bluntly, "We got you that 3D printer for a reason - what's stopping you from putting it to good use?" I took her challenge as an opportunity to get creative. After some tinkering, I came up with a solution that fit my existing 22mm doorbell button perfectly. To ensure a smooth push, I sanded the new part carefully before mounting it using double-sided foam tape. For those who want to replicate this project, I've made the ball and button combination available as an STL file. However, be warned: the tolerances are quite tight, which might cause issues with certain 3D printers. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try modifying the OpenJSCAD code to create your own custom design. Just be prepared for a bit of trial-and-error - it's not exactly a user-friendly script. To get the ball and button designs right, simply comment out the return lines in the correct order.
