Point Base XCB-003-391\nXCB-003 or IZM-003 is a site meticulously examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It serves as the definitive type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village with a distinctive whalebone house and numerous artifacts closely resembling those found in the Bristol Bay region exists there. It dates approximately 1200-1350 CE.\nThe Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411, all executed under the leadership of H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. They were then processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. A total of 2-8 photos was utilized for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was carried out at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing and publication completed at Global Digital Heritage.\nMcCartney, A.P. conducts groundbreaking research on Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula, presenting his findings in APUA 16(1):59-84 in 1974. Maschner's work is featured in Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004, vol. 41 no. 2, 98-111, with a DOI of 10.1353/arc.2011.0007.
