POCKET WOOD LATHE
pinshape
Summary This is a rework of Crayon Lathe 2 | Open Source TOYS by theevilorverlord. I imported stl files into my cad software and used them as a base, ending up with a new design. I aimed to create a simple wood lathe for turning 1:76.2 or 00 or 4mm to the foot. This design was a good starting point, so I made it my own by adding a direct drive motor for more speed and using 8mm rods. The tail-stock is actually another head stock, ready for future customization. The saddle and tool rest are based on my big wood lathe. All parts were printed in ABS, but the rod holes needed to be cleaned out to fit the rods. 2015-10-27 I added some low poly stl files of handles for sewing machine needles, which I glued together with a mix of acetone and ABS. Then I opened up the hole to about 1.8mm and warmed the needle before pushing it into place. 2015-11-01 I added a link to my pocket series of tools, including a pocket tool grinder to sharpen tools for this lathe. A great resource is located at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1103842. PARTS LIST HEAD-STOCK 2 SADDLE 1 TOOL-REST 1 4mm cap screws 2 3mm cap screws 16 8mm rod 2 pieces of desired length 6mm rod to bend up for tool rest motor to suit chuck - I got mine from Banggood.com
